February 2010 - SPAG AGM
Notice is hereby given that the third Annual General Meeting
of SPAG will be held at the Morrell Rooms on Monday 22nd
February 2010 at 8:30pm.
Note that as part of the meeting, Councillor Alan Law will brief
attendees on the WBC "Rural Village" classification
of Streatley. If approved this would give a high level of protection
to the village from excessive development. However, it could
be challenged, which if successful would have the opposite effect.
You may not be aware but Goring has been allocated a higher
classification by SODC and is now earmarked for extensive development
on many sites. AGM

January 2010 - Local Development Framework Core Strategy
This was approved by the full West Berkshire Council on the
21st January and is being submitted to the Secretary of State
for approval. During Autumn 2010 it will be tested at Public
Enquiry. The outcome of this enquiry will be critical for Streatley
with respect to the extent of permitted development up to 2026.

our updated section of the site discussing this. |

January 2010 - Conservation Appraisal
The WBC Conservation Area Appraisal for Streatley is currently
being finalised to take into account received comments during
the consultation period at the end of last year. This is a very
important document in considering any application in or adjacent
to the defined area and it's adoption will add another plank
in the opposition to inappropriate development in the centre
of the village. Without it WBC was at risk of the designated
area being challenged. See the updated section of our site here... |

March 2009 - Exhibition and Invitation to Present Plans to Streatley
Parish Council
Gladedale plan to hold another “exhibition”
of their latest development plans at The Swan on 9th March from
12 noon to 7pm. At 8pm they are invited to present these to
the SPC in the Morrell Room. As advised
for previous exhibitions... we strongly recommend that at
the exhibition you avoid completing forms or questionnaires
and putting anything in writing. All such information can be
used to their advantage. Please make every attempt to attend
the SPC Meeting at 8pm to voice your opinion and hear others.

WBC are now inviting us to comment on their "WBPS

Local Plan. This is the document that will outline the areas
designated for the development of 10,500 new homes in West Berks
up to 2026. The consultation period is 23/11/07 to 11/01/08.
Here we show you where to read the draft document and submit
any comments you have. More... |

September 2007 - Membership Recruitment
During August and September SPAG have been recruiting Members.
This is because we have been advised that we can strengthen
our case by showing we represent a large proportion of local
residents opposed to Gladedale planning proposals by having
a registered membership. A constitution
has been adopted and an inaugural
committee has been formed. |

August 2007 - Latest Forecast
of Gladedale Application
A Gladedale open letter in the Goring Gap News in August advises
that they intend to submit an application late September or
early October. They repeat their request for written comments.
We continue to advise that no written comments on their proposals
should be sent to Gladedale or Green Issues. Refer to our Letters
page under Current Campaigns. |

February 2007 - Delay in Issue
of Planning Application
Contrary to their declared intention Gladedale did not issue
a planning application in December 2006. We assume this is now
imminent. Watch this site.
SPAG will make residents immediately aware of the application
by way of this site. We will explain where the proposals can
be reviewed and explain the process required to write and object,
which will be vital to having the application rejected. We will
of course fully outline SPAG's objections for your information
and help. |

November 2006 - SPAG Response
to Green Issues Letter
Green Issues posted a letter to most Streatley residents dated

'activists' for the poor feedback response and stated that this
made their own statistical analysis of the feedback 'nonsense'.
