The Petition
This was needed to show to all parties the strength of feeling
against development proposals on the land in question, NOW -
at this pre-planning application stage.

Petition Wording:
We, the undersigned, object to proposed residential or
other urban developments on the parcels of land designated
by Gladedale (represented by Green Issues) and outlined
in red on the attached
plan.

During October and November 2004 volunteers
were visiting all Streatley households to complete the exercise
of obtaining signatures to a petition opposing all 'proposed
residential or other urban development' on the land now owned
by Gladedale Urban Developments Limited.
The majority of Streatley residents have now signed our Petition
opposing any building on the land.
The law of Diminishing Returns has however now kicked in where
the effort in acquiring signatures from some households is no
longer justified. These are households where the occupiers are
never at home when our volunteers call.
At January 2005 a total of 473
Streatley residents have signed the petition, from a household
count of 400. Out of the total
of residents approached >95%
where opposed to any development and signed the petition. Only
4% declined to sign at this stage.
We wish to thank wholeheartedly all those helping in this effort
and those signing the petition.
