Meetings
On the 17th September 2005 we met with the head of planning for Streatley at West Berkshire Council in Newbury, briefing him on the land in question, Gladedale, Green Issues and their open letters. Although clearly taking an unbiased approach, WBC outlined the policies which would be followed in reaching a decision in the event of a planning application and were very helpful in answering our questions.

In particular the principal levels of development protection for the village embodied in the West Berkshire Council Local Plan were discussed. Namely, Streatley being wholly in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village Settlement Boundary, the village Conservation Area and Listed Buildings. West Berkshire Council highlighted the importance of personal correspondence in respect of any planning application. Following this meeting we met with Green Issues Project Manager, where principally we endeavoured to clarify the strength of feeling against any urban development on the land.

Amongst others we have also met with our District Councillor Chris Webber and Conservative candidate Richard Benyon.

Two members of the SPAG Committee met with the West Berkshire Council Planning Policy Group Team Leader on the 24th February 2005. This group is responsible for the preparation of the Local Development Framework document which replaces the Local Plan. More Details...
